What is the WhatsApp Business API?

Unlike the WhatsApp Business app on a single phone, the API lets a whole team share one number, send approved templates to many customers and keep a full history in one place. Wapistry gives you a simple workspace on top of it.

Do I need a Meta Business account?

Yes. The WhatsApp Business API is provided by Meta, so you'll need a Meta Business account. If you don't have one yet, you can create it during setup — Wapistry walks you through connecting it securely through Meta.

Can I use my existing phone number?

Accepted Answer

Usually, yes. The number must be able to receive an SMS or call for verification. If it's currently registered on the WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business app, it has to be removed from the app first, because a number can only be used in one place at a time.

How long does setup take?

Creating your workspace takes a few minutes. Connecting your number through Meta is usually quick too, though Meta's own business checks can sometimes take longer.

What are templates and why do they need approval?

Templates are pre-written messages you use to start a conversation or reach customers outside the 24-hour window — for example offers, order updates or reminders. Meta reviews each template before it can be sent. You can design them in Wapistry with a live phone preview, submit them and track their approval status.

What is the 24-hour window?

When a customer messages you, you can reply freely for 24 hours. After that, you can only reach them with an approved template. Wapistry's inbox shows how much of the window is left and lets you send a template when it has closed.

How are opt-outs handled?

When a contact replies STOP or UNSUBSCRIBE, Wapistry marks them as opted out and automatically excludes them from future campaigns. You can see the "Opted out" badge on their contact.

Can my whole team use the same number?

Yes. Live Chat is a shared team inbox, so several people can reply to customers from the same WhatsApp number, with the full conversation history in one place.

Who pays for WhatsApp message charges?

Meta charges for WhatsApp messages and bills you for them directly. Wapistry adds no markup — you pay Wapistry only for your plan.

Are prices inclusive of GST?

No. Plan prices are shown in Indian Rupees and 18% GST is added on top.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. You can cancel your plan whenever you like from the app, and you won't be charged for the next billing period.

Wapistry is built on Meta's official WhatsApp Business API, connections are encrypted, and access to your workspace is limited to the people you invite. We handle personal data in line with India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

Who owns my contacts and conversations?

You do. You can export your contacts at any time, and you can ask us to delete your account data — see our Data Deletion policy for the steps.

Do you sell or share my data?

Accepted Answer

No. We don't sell your data. We only share it with the service providers needed to run Wapistry, such as Meta for message delivery and our payment provider for billing.
